dh-php5 software package provides debhelper add-on to handle PHP PECL extensions, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dh-php5
dh-php5 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dh-php5 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dh-php5 *
You will get with dh-php5 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
